Castle

I don’t know if you guys have seen Castle (other than Connie, I know you’ve talked about it at least once before – unless I’m going completely crazy… which is possible), but I have to tell you. It is awesome.
It took me ages to watch it. Mostly because my backlog of “things I need to watch” is looking more and more like an ocean of Netflix streaming…. But! I caved a month or two ago because I found and watched the first episode on Youtube and was immediately hooked. We bought all three available seasons within a week of that initial watching.

The best part about Castle, was getting our in the building friends into it as well (which meant getting to watch it again in that lovely – painful – mid-season break). Natalie had the same reaction as I did, which was basically a high pitched squeal that was some amalgamation of OMG and Nathan Fillion’s name. Because, really, the show doesn’t need anything but him… and somehow it manages to go above and beyond with the infusion of a whole cast of realistic and lovable characters.

Now that we’re all caught up, having to wait until the next weeks episode is a bit of a pain. Mostly because I want it now (sorry, I had to channel Veruca Salt for a minute there).

Why I love the show:
(This is pretty much the same reason I love Eureka) There is not a single character (main or secondary) that I dislike. In fact, I love them all. And that makes fitting their weekly hour into my schedule super easy, because I want to spend time with the characters. The plot lines can be a little predictable, but that doesn’t bother me at all.

Why you should take the time to look into it:
1) The first episode is on Youtube. Go, watch it. If you don’t like it, it’s only cost you an hour of your time.
2) OMGNATHANFILLIONOMG
3) It’s a super fun show and I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Life in 3D

Occasionally things happen when you least expect them.
Earl’s been looking at TV’s for the past several weeks. Researching like crazy because it wasn’t exactly in the budget to buy one. But he found one he liked and we decided we were going to save up for it (because setting a little aside each month and then buying the TV was a lot better idea than deciding to be stretched thin for a month or two.)
As you can see, Earl’s want of a new TV wasn’t extremely trivial, out old TV just didn’t fit well. The entertainment center dwarfed it.

Sorry about the horrible picture...
this is from back when we moved in.
The 32 inch TV is dwarfed by the cases.

So we were going to buy a new TV in April or something.

And then, Earl’s dad calls him at work.  And he drops by work (Earl works every few Saturdays, it’s a rotational thing – and it’s OT) and tells Earl that he got a bonus… and wants to buy us a new TV.
We hadn’t mentioned that we were planning to buy a new TV to Earl’s dad… he happened to come to the same conclusion we did – 32 inches was too small for that space.
And he’d picked one out… one we hadn’t looked at because we didn’t look at Costco – because we’re complacent like that.
So on Saturday, we ended up with a brand stinkin’ new TV.
The 46in fits the space much better.
If you notice, we've hidden our addiction away behind doors. There are only 4 box sets left that can be seen!
(I just had to stifle an evil laugh.)

It is HUGE. At least, I think it’s huge. And here’s something I never thought I’d say – as I’m a smidge resistant to change – We now own a 3D TV…
So, what did you do this weekend?

Red Velvet Deliciousness…

Is anyone else hungry?

I made these cupcakes for my dear friend Natalie. It was her birthday Sunday, and as we are none of us Football fans – we prefer futbol – we spend the majority of the day watching various episodes of our favorite TV Shows.

Are you a Football fan? If you didn’t watch the super bowl, what did you do instead?

Small town. Big secret. When beauty meets the Brains. Johnny Quest is Jonesin’!

14. Tell us about a TV Show you’re currently addicted to

Eureka: Smart, funny, and unfortunately on their midseason break at the moment. I’m dying for the Christmas special to get here.

Big Bang Theory: Clever, hilarious and always makes you look forward to Thursday nights. Sheldon always makes me smile, especially when he’s battling his arch-nemesis – Wil Wheaton.

Venture Bros: Who says you can be too old for Cartoons? Wacky and often perverse, this spoof of a Johnny Quest-style show is one of the best time killers ever. We’re actually planning to watch all four seasons that are on DVD over Thanksgiving, as we’ll be settling into our new apartment down town!

Random Thoughts For a Friday

  • Yay! The creepy guy at work that I had to file a sexual harrassment charge on 4 years ago is off today. Always a good thing.
  • Mmmmmmm! Tea is super good in the mornings.
  • I really should go see my tattoo artist again sometime soon... he probably thinks I hate him or something.
  • Found out yesterday that Jenna is my doppleganger.
  • Watched the first few episodes of season 5 HIMYM... still think they're stupid for starting season 6 the day before season 5 is released on DVD.
  • Is enjoying sending two of her betas segments of her novel... it makes it feel very 1940's serial, which is a vibe I was going for. Don't know that that's really the effect I'm getting from the whole thing though.
  • Ugh.... time to go to work.

Better Late Than Never, Rght?

I didn’t write a post for Monday because well, I was busy all weekend. That's why I'm just now getting around to posting!

“Busy doing what?” You might ask. Jeesh! Are you nosey…!

We were actually looking at houses. Well, Earl was looking at houses, because I fully plan on moving with him “duh”. And I’m always willing to give an opinion on things such as these. So fingers crossed on finding one, and getting it.

What time wasn’t spent looking for houses was spent with Lucy and watching Season 3 of The Big Bang Theory. If you haven’t ever seen this show… seriously, go buy the first season. It is adorably hilarious… it’s hilarible… or maybe adorious!

Regardless, you must all bow to my whim on this and you will not be disappointed! And if you are don’t tell me about it because then we won’t be able to be friends anymore…

The problem with weekends like this, is that you spend so much time on one task that it feels nothing else got done and you’re sitting there at 5am Monday morning wondering how this is possibly Monday. Surely it must still be Sunday, right?

It wasn’t, but Lucy didn’t care, she flopped down on me as if to say, “Oh? You’re awake? Then you must of course snuggles and pet and give me belly rubbin’s” And because I am her slave, I obeyed.

Tonight though, we have plans for more Big Bang… and why wouldn’t we? The new season starts Thursday and we’re hoping to be able to watch it live. Not the case with How I met your Mother… no. the next season starts tonight and the HIMYM Season 5 disks don’t ship until tomorrow! This means we have to DVR it… which is probably what we would have ended up doing anyway… I am so backed up on Kathy Griffin: My life on the D-list and the Inbetweeners…. I don’t have enough time in my life for all of the TV I’m missing out on!

Oh well, that’s why we have the DVR…. Right? Well, that and the Rugby games that are never on at a descent time. What is with that!

Okay…. Since this has turned into more of a rant than an actual blog post, I think I’m done for now.

The Shepherd “Issue”

The shepherd issue happens with a lot of series but I’ve named it the “Shepherd” issue because in one of my favorite shows that has been cancelled before it could tell me all of its secrets, Firefly, we never find out what’s going on with the character Shepherd.

It happens in so many shows that I’ve come to love and I absolutely hate it! Firefly, Pushing Daisies, Shin Chan… I could continue. The point is: I hate when I find a good thing only to have it taken away without getting closure.

Am I alone in this?
