Amy Peeks Out into an Empty Room

Hey Guys....

So, micro posting never happened. I guess I shouldn't really have been surprised. Things have been pretty dang busy since well, June.

Here's why I've been gone:

 - I published a novella that starts off my Space Western series! And I've been nose to the grindstone on the next installment so I don't keep people hanging for ever. I should be getting that back from the editor and *fingers crossed* have it ready for readers very soon.

 - We spent half of August in Oregon. After taking one of our usual out-of-the-way road trips, we were in the Portland area for about a week before we went to Mt. Hood for a weekend of camping and wedding festivities for my bestie Allison and her new husband Jeff.

- I don't really remember much about September. It went by ridiculously fast... and mostly was a recovery/catch up period after the trip.

 - And! Now that we're back from that we're planning our own wedding which, while not actually being time consuming as of yet, is at least thought consuming!

2013 Goal Updates: April

And boy howdy is this one late!

One Craft Project per Month
I managed to complete this: I made a set of homemade bath supplies! (Coconut Body Butter, Citrus Body Scrub, Sugar Hand Scrub and Bath Bombs) But I only managed to get a post up about one of them. I’ll get that up soon.

Review 4 Movies and 1 Season of TV per Month
Well, I failed miserably on both of these this month. I didn’t get a single one down! I’m going to have to do better with that one, methinks.

Read 60 Books (5/month)
This one I passed… I read 8 books this month. (they're linked if I reviewed them)

An Offer from a Gentleman (Bridgertons) by Julia Quinn
When He was Wicked (Bridgertons) by Julia Quinn
Saga Vol. 1 by Brian K Vaughn & Fiona Staples
Clockwork Princess (The Infernal Devices) by Cassandra Clare

March’s Goal: Get back into the swing of knitting!
(I learned how to knit in the fifth grade, and while I’ve since then not knit in over a decade – excluding the two rows I did when I bought a set of needles in January – I’ve found that its actually not that difficult to get back to! At least… I’m hoping not.)
I did not get this done. :(

April’s Goal: Get caught up on all the previous goals I’ve slacked on!

Dear March, What the F#@k?

Did you miss me? I’ve missed me, where the heck have I been? What happened?

It’s like I turned twenty six and then everything this month decided not to cooperate. I’m behind on ALL of my goals, I haven’t blogged in, what? 2 weeks? Holy crap, it’s been two weeks.

I mean, yes, I had a birthday, and then things got busy at work, and then last weekend was St. Patrick’s day and we got free tickets to the Flogging Molly show. But really, I have no excuse for being so absent. Because when I look back at the last two weeks… nothing HUGE really happened.

But then, maybe that’s the problem?

A Couponing Oops

Saturday we went to Safeway… mostly because we were bored. And got a metric butt ton of pizzas and then did our normal shopping trip on Sunday – which, went a little awry.

Saturday’s Safeway Run:
1 bottle Tartar Sauce - $2.89 ($3.19, Store Savings -$0.30)
27 Totinos frozen pizzas - $0.74ea ($1.29, Store Sale 5/$5, MFG Coupons $1/4 (6) $1/3 (1))
2 tubs Butter – $1.99ea ($3.69, Store Coupon -$1.70)
2.10lbs Green Grapes - $1.62 ($2.29/lb, Store Sale $0.77/lb)
0.89lbs Broccoli - $0.88 ($1.49/lb, Store Sale $0.99/lb)
2 bags prepared Salad - $1.99ea ($3.99, Store Sale BOGO)
Total @ Full Price: $60.33
Final Amount Paid: $34.16
Total Savings: $26.17 (44%)

Sunday’s Safeway Run:
3 boxes Fiber One Chewy Bars - $0.99ea ($3.99, Store sale $1.99, MFG Coupon $1/1(3))
12 Cans Campbell’s Cooking soups - $1.25ea ($1.59ea, Store sale $3/2, MFG Coupon $1/4(3))
2 bags prepared Salad - $1.99ea ($3.99, Store Sale BOGO)
6 bottles Dr. Pepper 10 - $0.00 ($1.99, Store Sale $1.29, MFG Coupon one free up to $1.99 (6))
Total @ Full Price: $51.61
Final Amount Paid: $22.59
Total Savings: $29.02 (57%)

So, in total, we got $111.49 worth of foodstuffs for $56.75. But here’s where it went wrong: We walked into the store on Sunday morning with the intention of buying our 12 Campbell’s soups for $0.25 each ($12 less than what we ended up paying for them) and that was because I didn’t pay enough attention as I was gathering the coupons.  And so our coupons did not work for the soups that were 2 for $1, but rather those that were $3 for 2… and there’s where we should have just said, “Nevermind, we don’t need soup, so let’s skip it.) but we didn’t.  So here we are. We did come in right at our budget though - $60 for the two weeks, so these two trips plus the 3.70 from last week puts us at $60.45.
