Taken with my phone as she's laying on my legs on the couch. |
Lucy spent most of this weekend sleeping on my legs, being the perfect little space heater. She was rewarded for her efforts to get me better with string cheese – one of her favorite treats.
Today I am better.
I’m at work again – though I’ll be the first to admit, I would have rather slept in – and Terry, the woman who has to watch the phones when I’m gone is immensely relieved. She doesn’t like the phone – it ties you to your chair (figuratively of course). One of the things I’m not looking forward too, being back at work and not yet fully recovered, is something I call the copier relay.
When using the copier, I have to walk 50 feet away from my desk. When the phone rings, according to company policy I am supposed to answer it by ring #2 unless on another line. If I am at the copier, I am obviously not on the other line. Therefore, if I’m at the copier and the phone rings, I’m supposed to rush back to my desk and answer the phone by ring two. At ring six, it rolls over to the “backup lines” (aka. The salesmen). They really don’t like it when that happens. So if the phone rings, I have to hurry back up to the desk and answer the phone, before going back to finish my copying/scanning.
When I use the copier, the phone invariably rings. It’s the most annoying part of my day.
So I’m not looking forward to that. Thinking about it makes me tired right now – thank you tonsillitis.
I hope you are all feeling better than I am (and a million times better than I was!)
Getting back to work after sick-leave is never easy. And that sprint for the phone does sound like a work out.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog last week!
Ugh. Don't they know they should just buy you a little personal printer that's near your desk?
