When the shipping code Claudia tagged as the one used by Brother Adrian shows up with three pings, one for a loved one for Claudia, Pete and Myka, the three have to divide their focus to save them.
Claudia finds her brother encased in Amber, while Myka catches up with her sister who’s eyes flash green tries to kill her, and Pete goes to his ex wife who’s taken suddenly ill. While the others are away, Artie does his best to thwart Brother Adrian’s attempts to force him into using the astrolabe… and Jinks and Mrs. Frederick visit the Vatican, where they find brother Adrian has been trapped within a painting for the last four months. So who is going after Artie?
Artifacts in this Episode:
D.B. Cooper’s Ripcord – (Unknown effects)
Thomas Jefferie’s Boomerang – Once thrown, the boomerang will continue to circul until it’s target is dead, or it is caught.
Ignaty Gryniewietsky’s Leather Box – Tattoo on the box transfers via skin contact, and turns the affected victim into an IED. Heat and radiation builds within the person, until they explode. Transfering the tattoo back to the leather box from where it came is the only way to remove the danger.
Pliny the Elder’s Amber Scroll – Encases anyone who touches it in amber.
Mehmed II’s Silken Cord – Causes the effected to want to kill their sibling. It’s triggered by contact with the sibling and eventually results in a fever that will kill the affected person. Cutting the cord is the only way to remove the artifact’s hold.
Rembrant van Ijn’s Painting Frame – Made from wood from the tree of life, it traps those who look at it inside the painting it frames. Removing the picture from the frame releases those trapped inside.
My Thoughts:
I was so looking forward to the idea of getting more time with Leena… guess that’s all over now. (Though who knows, they could find a way to bring her back… maybe the metronome?) It’s pretty depressing if she is gone.
While I wasn’t right about the exact nature of the darkness Artie created, I do enjoy the twist that he’s been doing it all to himself. And it makes sense, doesn’t it? It’s incredibly realistic to believe that altering time could result in a split in your personality.
Have the producers put a “Pete-without-a-shirt” quota on this season? This is the second episode in a row that he’s spent a large amount of time without a shirt.... On a side note: I am really happy to see he’s not super ripped. He looks average and I think that would be expected for his character.
