They had to be put down

Saturday was a super hectic day... I don't even know how to convey that fact. But it started out with a trip to ASU to print off the four copies of the novel I gave away.

A few things I didn't know:

#1 the print on demand press at ASU is technically only open Monday through Friday.
#2 I'm apparently cute enough to get the manager on staff to overlook that fact
#3 Printing out 5 copies of a novel (the four for the contest and one for my shelves) would take 10 times as long as it took to print out one copy.

I got there at 10:15, and didn't leave until about 12:30...

Anyway, due to all of the construction on campus, I had to take a rather long detour around the MU and this little jaunt was not what my shoes had expected... they rebelled.

I always wear my shoes - Vans skate shoes - with heavy wool hiking socks, because they're just that comfortable. and I always roll the sock down so there's an extra layer of padding around my ankles. This time, that extra layer of padding did nothing for me.

By the time I made it to the bookstore, my ankles were hurting. When I left the bookstore (having to go back because I forgot my flash drive) my left ankle felt like something was biting me every time I took a step.

It wasn't till I got home and took off a bloody sock that I realized just how much damage my rebellious shoes had done.

And of course Lucy was concerned.

So now I have a big bandaid on the back of my ankle, making most footular movement a wee bit difficult, and those shoes were put down. They're in the trash, waiting for collection. I forgot to take a picture of them before we tossed them and I'm not about to take a trip down the garbage chute to find them... I don't think there's a way out of that room...

  1. Owwwww! I hate blisters! I get them all the time, it doesn't matter how good or sensible the shoes. I think I just have very tender feet or walk weird. Who knows. I have to keep blister band aids in my purse at all times. Yowch. I know your pain.
