I Could Have Been Killed!

Imagine, if you will, this

hurdling toward you on a collision course!

This morning on our way to work (Earl and I carpool if I have yet to mention that) we were almost hit by the lightrail.

Anyone who lives in Phoenix can tell you about this ill conceived train. It has it’s advantages, yes, but for the most part it wasn’t well thought out. The worst part of it… even after it’s been open for over a year, it’s still not working quite right with normal traffic.

The lightrail, which I believe would have been better in so many ways as an elevated train, apparently isn’t completely synced with the normal traffic control systems (aka: traffic lights). This morning, after pulling off our freeway exit, and sitting at the light to cross west bound Washington and turn onto east bound Jefferson, the light changed. The infinity sedan and the dump truck in front of us began to go, but everyone set off cautiously as the lightrail didn’t look like it was going to stop.

It did.

And then it started to go again… with traffic still in the intersection in front of it, our light glaringly green.

All that I can say is that someone really needs to work that bug out.

  1. Whoa! That is nightmarishly awful! I'd say that's one big ass kink in their flawed system!

We're on the verge of the light rail down here. I was all for it, but now? Hmmm.

  2. Did they run out of money to train the drivers?
