Okay, so… last December(2009)we were looking to move out of an apartment with my rommie and off on our own. As our search for a new place to live that didn’t have ridiculous pet rules or insane deposits, Earl’s mom informed us that they were looking for a house and that, if their offer was accepted, we’d be able to rent her house from her for an awesomely “fair” amount.
Well, when it came time to receive the answer on their offer, the people with the house decided to play games and they decided not to play back. In the meantime, while they continued to search for a new house, we moved into a condo owned by one of Earl’s friends. That was back in the beginning of January (2010).
I’ll admit that the long search they’ve had for their new house wore on my nerves. They finally closed on their house in May. I thought, “Great! We’ get all get to move and everything’s settled.”
Problem is, the house they bought is a short sale property that happened to be rented out by an out of state buyer… and due to laws designed to protect the tenant, there’s no way around the fact that the previous owner signed those tenants to a full year lease, meaning they don’t have to leave until May (2011). They’ve been given the option to break their lease with no penalty, but they don’t plan to.
It makes me want to pull my hair out! A year and five month delay isn’t what I signed on for… grrr
Bummer man. But have fun "moving in". You should have a housewarming party!!! I wish I could come :(
