Accents

Ok, so previously we discussed the fact that I went to see the third twilight. Let me say, as much as I was snarfleing, there was one point when I stopped and had to sigh. Now that Jasper has lines in one of the movies – ok, more than one – we get to hear that gentlemanly southern accent of his. I love me some accents.

Don’t get me wrong, there are some people I’ve met with accents (southern or otherwise) who have horrible (and I mean horrible) accents. But for the most part give me an accent and I’ll listen to you for hours.

I can do a few myself (much to Dave’s – my friend Nat’s husband – annoyance) My southern Bell, British and Irish accents are some of my favorites, Russian and Spanish tend to go into a lower register (that’s right, even lower than my normal voice. You may be shocked and amazed).

The only accent I’m not fond of is my Minnesotan accent – not that I have a problem with it when I use it - it’s the fact that I find myself slipping into the accent when I don’t mean to. I mean, I can understand If I’ve watched Fargo, after that I’ll give the strange sneak-ins a few days to go away. But I think that a few people are beginning to think I’m from up north. (p.s. I’m originally from Oregon, dontcha Knoh?)
